Abigail
Abigail is a fawn female. We estimate she is around 3 years old. This poor little girl was found wandering the streets, following a homeless man for companionship. This sweet girl hasn't been cared for by anyone for quite some time. Sadly, she has tested positive for heartworms. She will begin treatment soon. She has been spayed and we've brought her current on her vaccinations.
From Abby's Foster: Abby is very intelligent. She has picked up on her name very quickly and understands many commands, including sitting, lay down and cookie (doggie snack). She is the happiest pug we have seen and loves to play and run. She loves stuff animals and will play fetch. She would do best with a family with children that can play with her. She also loves to sit on laps and give kisses. She is mostly housebroken but does have occasional accidents. She is an alpha dog that can be aggressive to other dogs when they show signs of aggression. Abby has spent her time on the streets and now wants that cozy home and a permanent family that will pamper her.
Aiden
Aiden is a 4 year old fawn male who came to us from a local shelter with sarcoptic mange. After being in isolation for two weeks of treatment he’s non-contagious and has been neutered and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, but extremely thin (at 17 lbs, he’s about 5 lbs underweight, and that’s AFTER two weeks at the vet).
While his coat is ragged, his hipbones and ribs stick out, and his hindquarters are muscle-wasted, it was difficult to get a picture that showed what sorry shape he is in. He’s extremely photogenic (as all beautiful male models should be). He’s sociable with the pack, but will bark at “the brat” when she tries to block him or snag his chewie. He’s very interested in everything going on in the yard, passing by on the street, or showing on TV. He’s made it his job to let us know when our “porch kitties” are around, so he might not be the best match for a home with indoor cats. He likes to lie draped across your lap, and follows any human moving around the house (maybe he’ll miss something?) This is a beautiful, wise soul.
What’s left of his dark (smutty fawn) coat is quite fluffy, and it will be a pleasure to see this guy blossom. He hasn’t marked, and did his business outside with the rest of the pack. We did discover one overnight accident on a rug, so he will need housebreaking reinforcement or perhaps crating when being left unsupervised. We’ll keep working on this.
He is a joy to foster and will make someone a wonderful companion.
Alex
Alex is a fawn male. He is a young guy - probably about 1 year old. He is in good health. He is heartworm negative. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He will be neutered prior to placement.
As he comes to us from a shelter, so we don't know his story. But it looks like life hasn't been too kind to him so far. He has some small scars on his back at the shoulder; the vet said they look like they may be from burns. They are all healed and hopefully his fur will return soon. He's a small little guy at only 12 pounds and it doesn't look like he'll get too much bigger.
He's a lover - he loves to be held. His foster reports he presses his head into her shoulder like he's hugging her! He gets on well with his foster siblings and loves to play. He also is housetrained so he's all ready for his forever home to come claim him!
Allie
Allie is a fawn female. She is about 6 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm negative. Sweet little Allie is deaf and blind so she will need a home that is a safe environment. She is currently suffering from demodectic mange but she is on medication that will clear that shortly. She has not yet been spayed but will be prior to placement.
From Allie's foster: I've had Allie for a month now and she blossoms a little more every day. Contrary to what we initially believed she is not deaf, in fact I think she has fairly good hearing. She's like a child, she has selective hearing. I can be trying to find her and she acts like she can't hear me call her but you just let me open a bag of chips and she goes bonkers when she hears the bag crackle, that is definitely not deaf. She has started responding on a more consistent basis to her name being called. I believe the combination of a new name, the blindness and a new environment confused her.
Allie is an angel with a capital A! She loves to be held and will lay in my lap as long as I will sit still. She also likes to roam around the house, she is learning where things are and she seems to be enjoying herself. I was quite surprised to discover that she is housetrained. I put her out with the other guys and she does her business. I do have to go outside to bring her in most of the time, when I call her she can't seem to locate where my voice is coming from. But this is a vast improvement from a month ago, she use to just sit in the corner of the yard and wait for me to find her. She will actually come to the door if she's close enough to find it now.
Allie is also beautiful, she has such an expressive face and will just
stare at me with her big brown eyes like she is really seeing me when I talk to her. Her ears will be perked up and she will cock her head from side to side. Allie deserves to have someone love her and give her the attention that she deserves. She really isn't a demanding little lady, she just wants to be loved. Please consider taking Allie into your heart and family, you will be forever grateful that she came into your life.
Angus
Angus is a black male. He comes to us from a local shelter. We believe he is about 10 years old. He is heartworm negative but suffers from severe dry eye. He also has arthritic hips. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.
From Angus' foster: Meet Angus! Angus is a sweet 10 year old pug man. We aren't too sure what Angus' life was like before coming to us, but he's learning his way around his new foster life. He can't hear or see too much, but it doesn't slow his curious nature down. He has learned his way around our home and has his favorite spots to nap. He does well with other dogs, in fact he usually finds one to snuggle up with. Angus needs the perfect home where he can enjoy his days being loved for the wonderful puggy he is!
Annabelle
Annabelle is a fawn female. She is only 1 1/2 years old. She comes to us as an owner surrender through a veterinarian's office. She has suffered an injury to her back or back legs which causes her to walk with a strange gait. She is fecal incontinent due to this injury. She is in otherwise good health; she is heartworm negative. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations. She is a sweet and loving girl and needs a home that will love her just as she is. She will require someone who is up to the challenge that her special needs require.
Auggie
Auggie is a fawn pug mix. His mommy was a pug rescued by PugHearts shortly before his birth. He was born Jan. 16th. Auggie is in excellent health.
From Auggie's foster: Auggie is a complete Mama's boy. He stays near my feet at all times and is the first to jump into my lap to snuggle when I sit down. A true protector, he keeps close watch on his sister Ava and makes sure she hasn't gone too far from him. He loves to give kisses to everyone! Auggie is a bit nervous around men. He's begun to warm up to some, but only after some serious coaxing and especially if treats are in hand. He's wary of strangers, but never aggressive. He simply hides behind me until he sniffs out the new situation and warms up to his surroundings. Auggie is also great with kids. He's very gentle and loves to join in on whatever they are playing. Auggie also loves the water! He fearlessly runs in ponds and shallow pools and loves to splash around and play. Auggie is almost completely potty trained and does well in a large kennel during the day. He is looking for his forever home and would be an amazing fit for any family that doesn't mind the training of a new puppy. Can you give Auggie the home that he deserves?
Ava
Ava is a fawn pug mix. Her momma was a pug rescued by PugHearts shortly before her birth. She is still a puppy; she was born on January 16th. Ava is in excellent health.
From Ava's Foster: Ava is the sweetest girl I've ever come across. She has lots of (puppy) energy, but can just as easily curl up on the couch next to you and snuggle for hours. Surprisingly enough, Ava does not bark! The only sounds I've heard out of her are quiet whimpers when she's bored. She's incredibily warm to everyone she meets and is comfortable and friendly around kids (especially our 6 year old son and 2 year old nephews). She gets along great with other dogs and loves the company of other canine friends that are her size. She loves to play fetch and chase our other Pug-mix, Izzie, around the house and cuddle next to her at night. Ava loves to give kisses and great you at the door when you come home. Ava also loves the water! She jumps around, splashes and runs back and forth around the waters edge and will even swim out a short distance. She's even been known the jump in the bath tub with our 6-year old during bath time! She's almost completely potty trained and does well in her kennel during the day as long as she has some chew toys to keep her busy and a stuffed animal to snuggle with.
Avery
Avery is a fawn female. She is 6 years old. It doesn't look like anybody has been looking after her for a while; she is heartworm positive. She is also suffering from some joint issues: she has a right luxating patella (kneecap) and left elbow arthritis. She has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations.
Bailey 3
Bailey is a black female. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
From Bailey's foster: Bailey is a very unique pug, not just in the way she looks but her personality pretty special too. Firstly, she is very nimble and limber and can jump very high onto things and land on her feet like a cat. This unique skill works to Bailey's advantage as she can always jump up to where you are and be close to you. VERY close! And she gives lots of pug kisses. Secondly, Bailey is a lady. In fact, she's so delicate that she even lifts one of her back legs to pee. Since Bailey is a bit of a prima-donna, she would do best in a home where she is the only dog so she can be the center of attention at all times. She gets along OK with other dogs, but she's a bit of an instigator and drama queen.
Bailey 4
Bailey is a fawn female. She is 11 years old.
From Bailey's foster: Bailey is an 11-year-old fawn gal that is sweet as pie. She loves all people, dogs and even cats though people are her favorite. She is constantly stopping in front of people and waving her paw at them to get their attention. She will pat you with her paw and "talk" as well when she wants attention. She loves to be touched and told she is a good girl...she absolutely lights up and wiggles all over when she is told she is a good girl. I call it her "good girl dance" because she dances. Her house manners are impeccable. She tells you when she has to go out and does not care to linger; she goes out, does her business then wants to come back in the house. Bailey is a special needs gal; she has dry eye and is a doll about getting her ointment in her eyes. She also has some kidney issues as well, and at this point requires special prescription food only; it does not affect her quality of life or her ability to potty outside. This gem of a senior lost her home due to no fault of her own, and still has a lot of love to give to that special someone who can overlook her age and her needs. Won't you consider adding a sweet senior to your home?
Bella 4
Bella is a fawn female. She is 5 years old and an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
From Bella (with a little help from her foster mom): Well do I have a story to tell you! This nasty economy caused the only human parents I have known in my 5 years to lose one of their jobs, and they had to move to a townhome where pets were not allowed. So, they loved me so much that they found Pughearts, through this thing they call....the internet??? Anyway, they sent an email to some people who then sent emails out to THEIR people and found my foster mom. I miss my family, but they loved me so much, that I come with a starter kit for my new family, kind of like an incentive package :)
So here is my list of attributes: Female (spayed), 5yrs old (in myprime), HW negative (of course!), house trained (is there any other way?), a bag of toys & goodies & collar & leash & food (hellooooo, no startup costs!), petite, height & weight proportionate, fresh manicure, respond to simple commands, and a ZEST for life! I can spin circles in quick succession, I can run and play with other dogs, large or small, with children, and don't even mind cats! I bark at anyone that dares to knock on my door, and tell you in no uncertain terms when I am hungry, or need to use the facilities....I like to talk (helloooo! I'm a GIRL!). In the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I have a bit of itchy skin from, dare I say it.......fleas! But they are gone now and my skin is on the mend. As you can see from my portfolio of head shots, I only have one eye, but have no problem seeing perfectly! Please consider the entire package, but know that I will love you like you've never known if you adopt me for life.............I'm WAITING!!!! So pick up the phone already, I have another mani/pedi appt. to get to!
Billy
Billy is a fawn male. He is 3 years old. He comes to us from a local kill shelter. He's a little guy, only 15 lbs, very cute and lovey. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly.
Blu
Say hello to Blu. He is an 8 year old fawn male. This cutie came to us from a local shelter, so we do not know his history. However, we do know that nobody has been looking after him. He has bad hips and degenerative discs in his spine, though that does not slow him down. He has poor vision and a severe entropion eyelid (which can be corrected with surgery.) He has been neutered, microchipped and brought up to date on his vaccinations as well as having some dental work.
UPDATE from Blu's foster Mom:
Blu- A charmer, a jazz singer and a poet - what more can you ask for in a senior pug man ? He enjoys outdoors for very short periods and spends most of his time dreaming about .... what do pugs dream about? A chunk a pug ( ok he eats anything that looks edible) - he is currently watching exercise cable TV hoping that he gets in shape by osmosis. IF it works we will let you know................
Bohdi
Bohdi is a fawn female. She is an owner surrender. She is 3 years old. She is heartworm negative. She came to us a very sick girl and we have been working with our vet to get her healthy. Sadly, it appears that we got her too late to "fix" her. Though she is a happy girl, she is now being placed on hospice care due to Lymphoma. We will care for her and make her comfortable and happy for whatever remaining time she has left.
Special Notes
Bohdi is on hospice care for Lymphoma.
Boris
Boris is a fawn male. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. He is in fair health; he is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.
From Boris' foster: Boris is one cool dude. He is a lay back & chill, sleep-in in the morning kind of guy. Sometimes he likes to just hang out on a chair by himself, others he wants to lay right next to you, cuddling. He is an excellent companion; he likes to hang out where you are. For someone looking for a dog ready to just make himself at home and chill, Boris is the dog for you.
Brandon
Brandon is a fawn male. He is 2-3 years old. He was picked up by a local animal control facility and nobody came to claim him so we were called. He is severe heartworm positive. He has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations. This charmer has manners, so he's obviously been someone's pet at one time, though his heartworm positive status tells us nobody has been taking care of him. He does have some dry eye and is on medication for that.
From Brandon's foster: Brandon is very happy to be rescued and be back in a home with people who love him. He's the first one to jump in your lap when you sit down and wants to climb up until he's nose to nose with you. He's a beautiful golden brown and reminds me of a lion club. He's definitely a chow hound and roams from bowl to bowl at meal times. He's perfectly house trained and knows the command Sit. Once he's cured of his heartworms, he will be the perfect pet for someone who wants to snuggle with a pug and get puggle kisses.
Update: We are thrilled to report that Brandon has completed his heartworm treatment and is now clear! This means he is ready for his new home!
Bronx
Bronx is a black male. He is just 3 years old. He was an owner surrender to a local animal control facility when they found out he was heartworm positive. He was literally moments away from being euthanized when a volunteer from another rescue organization intervened and saved him. They then contacted us to see if we wanted him and of course we never turn any pug away, regardless of their health issues. This sweet little guy will begin heartworm treatment shortly.
Buzz
Buzz is a fawn male. We believe he is between 2 and 3 years old. He is heartworm negative and has been neutered. He is current on his vaccinations and has been microchipped. He has an old injury to his back leg and does not use it for much more that support. He does not hurt and is a sweet lovable shadow.
Carter
Carter is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local animal control facility. We believe he is around 3 years old. He had worms when he first came to us but they have been treated. He is in excellent health. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.
Carter is a sweet, gentle fellow. He is very easy going and mellow. He's a loving boy who would do well as an only dog or in a less active household. He does well on walks, but is happiest hanging around with his human.

Clyde
Clyde is a fawn male. He is 9 years old. He was apparently used for breeding, so he has not known what is means to be somebody's pet. As he has not been cared for properly he has tested heartworm positive. He will begin treatment shortly. He has now been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations. He is a sweet little guy who gets on well with other dogs and is not dominant. We are looking forward to helping him find that perfect family for him to live out the rest of his days as a pampered pet.
Courtney
Courtney is a black female. She is 4 years old. She comes to us from a local animal control facility. This poor little girl has been on her own for a while and hasn't fared too well. She is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. In the meantime she is suffering from a case of mange and seems to also have a respiratory infection. These are being treated and will hopefully clear soon. Since she has obviously been living outside for a while she has developed dry eye and will now get daily eye drops to keep her comfortable. She has now been microchipped, spayed and brought current on her vaccinations.
This sweet little girl deserves to know what it's like to be part of a family and to not have to fend for herself out on the streets. We have promised her just that and hope the perfect family finds her soon.
From Courtney's foster: Courtney is a sweet angel that has a wonderful spirit for life. From the moment you meet her you know she just wants to be loved and to play. She has made wonderful progress in the last weeks recovering from her ailments from living in the streets. Her hair is starting to grow back and she is looking better by the day. When she is fully recovered she is going to be a beautiful pug! You would never know the hardships she has faced because she is a bundle of happiness with lots of love to give. She loves to play with toys and is house trained.
Deegan
Hi! My name is Deegan...........and I am a HOARDER! My hoarding item of choice is anything plush with a squeaker. I live to destroy squeaky toys, I know it's a problem, which is why I attend hoarders anonymous meetings on a regular basis. I am a 2 year old neutered male, who is looking for the home with the most toys. I have an eye condition that requires drops once a day, but that doesn't stop me from finding toys or food, or even my foster mom's doggie door. I have very limited vision, but have a very positive, happy go lucky personality despite that fact! I am severe heart worm positive, and will be undergoing treatment as soon as Pughearts can get me some medicine. I love to sleep on the bed with my mom, and my two new pug friends, and even the cat! I potty outside, and only occasionally piddle in the house. I really like kids, and they seem to like me which is good because they don't seem to mind when I give them puggie kisses. I've got lots of love to give.....if you've got the squeaky toys!! :)
Dennett
Dennett is a fawn female. She is an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She is 9 years old. She is in good health. She is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations.
From Dennett's foster: Dennett continues to be an absolute joy. She is such a little sweetheart! Dennett (Also known as Ginger) is a petite lady with a beautiful little face, sweet brown eyes, and a lovely personality to match. True to pug form, she loves to shadow her person, enjoys walks, naps and treats, and has never met a stranger. Dennett is very adaptable and easygoing. She would do well in a home with other dogs and with children but would also be a great "only child." She has plenty of love to give you-don't you want to give some back to her?
Diamond
Diamond is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local puppy mill. She is 5 years old but her body has been through a lot in that time. She has now been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative.
From Diamond's foster: Meet Miss Diamond. She sure is a gem of a girl. Diamond came to us from a puppy mill, so she hasn't had a very good life thus far. It thankfully has not killed her spirit though. Now that she knows how a pug SHOULD be treated - she has really come around and is loving the attention. She has a sweet face with a tongue that partially sticks out about 95% of the time. She could melt you with her pouty look. She is a pretty calm gal, although she does have her moments that prompt her to zip around the back yard or roll around on her back. She recently has found the enjoyment of chewing on a bone - this is always such a special thing when puppy mill dogs learn what fun toys are! J She has also learned how nice it is to sleep on a big comfy bed! Diamond does very well with other dogs.
Diamond is heartworm negative, and overall very healthy. Her poor paws are pretty spread out from spending most of her life in a wire crate (with no bottom). The cysts that were between her toes are going away thankfully, and she is not in any pain. She is actually doing pretty well with housebreaking. She knows to go outside, but hasn't quite learned how to 'tell us' that she has to go. She's getting there though! She uses a piddle pad when we are gone during long periods of time, as we prefer not to crate her any more.

Dottie
Dot is the matron of the house. She is bossy and will yell at the younger or new fosters that join our house. Dottie is blind, but still manages to chase the new fosters around the yard for a few hours. She is Daddy's girl and loves for him to come home and rub her face. She will reach for him hand and nuzzle her face against him until her rubs on her again. This can go on for hours. We do not have an exact age for Dottie, she is somewhere between 13-16 years old. She came to us from a local shelter where she was taken by her owner. She was blind, skinny and scared the day we took her out of there. She was no bigger than a dot, hence the name. Dottie has been with us for more than a year. She is a happy loving girl looking for a place to be loved for the remainder of her life.
Duke
Duke is a black male. He is 8 years old. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is in excellent health. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.
From Duke's foster: Duke appears to have spent a good amount of time alone because he feels most secure right now in his dog pen area. We can leave the door to the pen open and he will go in on his own. Duke needed to work on house manners in the first few days of joining his foster home but he has learned the dog door and has made fast progress in that area. Sweet dog who loves to be near his humans but is not interacting terribly much with the other 4 dogs in the house. He absolutely loves going on walks and we are totaling 1 mile a day since he could stand to lose a pound or two. He just wants to do what a pug loves to do, and that is to be a companion to his human family.
Ella
Ella is a fawn female. She came to us from an out of state puppy mill where she was used for breeding. She is 5 years old. She did have hookworms but those have been treated. She is in surprisingly good health for a dog forced to live outside. She is heartworm negative. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. Though she is in pretty good health physically, she is typical of puppy mill survivors in that she is quite timid and frightened of strangers. She will need a family who can gently teach her what it is like to be part of a loving family.
Eloise
Eloise is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets without any escort. Sadly, she had no tags or microchip either. We estimate that she is about 8 years old. She is heartworm negative, spayed and current on her vaccinations.
From Eloise's foster: Eloise has been a true blessing to have around. She is sweet as can be and fit into our household real quick. She doesn't make much noise (except the occasional soft bark when you are cooking or eating), hasn't had a single accident, loves to be in your lap, yet is less demanding for your attention than the average pug. Unfortunately, Eloise was diagnosed with kidney failure shortly after being rescued. We do not know how much time that leaves us with Eloise, but in the mean time she is full of life and love. She does not seem to be affected by her illness at this time, but will have to be monitored and on special food for the rest of her life. I can not say enough about how special this little girl is (did I mention she is only 12 pounds?). My husband normally just cooperates with fostering, but he has definitely fallen in love with Eloise. She would be a great companion for a quiet household and would do well in a multiple dog household or by herself.
Special Notes
Eloise has been diagnosed with kidney failure. She currently shows no symptoms and is on a special diet to prevent any complications.
Figaro
Figaro is a fawn male. He is an older fellow - probably 10 years old. He was found with no tags or microchip. This poor sweet boy has trouble getting around. He is overweight and seems to have some degenerative disc disease in his back. This means he is urine incontinent and has difficulty with walking. He is also suffering from severe ear infections. He appears to have dry eye, but can definitely see.
Despite all his issues, this guy is a sweetheart. He is tired, scared and looking for a quiet place to diet and heal. He is soooooooo sweet. He talks and sings to you.
Frannie
Frannie is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter and is about 4 years old. Frannie has not been looked after and when she came to us both of her eyes had ruptured. We were unable to save them so they were removed to avoid any further pain. We are happy to report she is doing quite well.
From Frannie's foster: Frannie is one happy little girl. Life hasn't been overly kind to her thus far but that doesn't bother her! The day I brought her home after her surgery she was running around the house like she had lived there forever. In fact, the first time I let her go outside she found the door to get back in all by herself. She has super powered hearing now and just the sound of me walking tells her where I am and she trots along at my heels.
Seeing how she has adapted to her new life is quite inspiring. She loves to be close to me and will jump on the couch to sit with me or jump down to follow me when I get up. She absolutely LOVES to sleep with me. When it's time to go to bed she will go into my bedroom and put her front paws on the bed waiting for me to give her a little assist (the rest of them need help getting up also) Then I have to fight for my space the rest of the night because she just keeps moving over to get close to me.
Frannie walks well on a leash and loves to go bye bye in the car. She is also housetrained. I have taught her that "careful" means she's in danger of running into something and she will slow down or jog to the side to miss whatever it is. We're also working on "up" and "down" for steps. It is totally amazing how well she has adjusted! Her happy, loving spirit is thriving. Frannie doesn't need special care or attention. However she is very demanding in the love department. I think she will do well in any situation. She gets on well with the other dogs, loves people and I think she would adore children. All Frannie needs is a home to keep her safe and give her love.
Freeman
Freeman is a black male. We believe he is between 10 to 12 years old. He came to us from a puppy mill where he was used for breeding. He has now been neutered and can enjoy his "retirement." He had a bad case of hookworms but that has cleared with medication. He does have some vision and hearing limitations. He is current on his vaccinations and has been microchipped. He is heartworm negative.
From Freeman's foster: Meet Freeman! He is a very sweet, snuggly, little old man. Freeman came to us from a horrific puppy mill situation. We expect that he has lived most of his life outside. Despite this, he's doing pretty well adjusting to his new life indoors. He actually seems to be housebroken. He doesn't see or hear very well, but he still gets around quite well. He has no other known health issues. He loves to be held and loved, I guess he's making up for lost time. He gets along with other dogs and doesn't bother cats either! Freeman needs a special someone who is willing to give him lots of love for the rest of his life!
Gherkin
Do you remember our "Pickle" pug imposter? Well, here's our latest "Gherkin!"
We were asked to take in a stray "pug" but when we picked him up we could obviously tell he was no pug. However, he needed us so we took him in. We think he is a poodle/terrier mix and is about 5 or 6 years old. His is a little guy. Unfortunately he is severe heartworm positive so he will begin treatment shortly. He will also be neutered. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He's a really sweet boy who just loves attention.
From Gherkin's foster: He is very sweet and trusting. He is almost blind but learned my home and yard quickly. He has completed HW treatment. He would do best with another dog for a companion. He loves to sleep in the bed and be hear his person. He gets along with other animals, plays with toys, enjoys being outdoors if with another dog or person.

Hercules
Hercules is a 7 year old fawn male. He comes to us from a local shelter so his history is unknown. He is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment immediately. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He has been neutered.
From Hercules' foster: He has completed heartworm treatment and is clear. He is gentle and wants to please. He appears to have been abused but is learning to trust, though he hides from loud noises or if he gets scared. He gets along well with other animals but is really a loner. He does love to be held and sit on your lap. He loves children. He would do best in a quieter environment.
Izzy
Izzy is a sweet fawn female. She is 2 years old. She comes to us as an owner surrender due to her medical condition. Izzy has been seen by a neurologist who has determined that she is suffering from hydrocephalus (water on the brain.) This means that she has a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid around her brain. This is usually only seen in puppies but Izzy developed this within the last year. It has affected her walking but she still gets around well. As her symptoms have not progressed and her condition has stabilized, no further treatment is necessary. She will need to be monitored for changes and if any occur she should be seen by the neurologist.
Izzy is a very sweet girl. She comes to you for affection; she puts her nose on you to let you know she wants attention. She navigates around her foster house and yard well but does not do too well with steps. She sleeps up on the human bed but needs to be put up and down. She still has some tics - expecially when eating, and takes time to process things. She comes when called but just takes a little longer. She does not tolerate loud noises well. She seems to enjoy being around other dogs and sleeps with them.
Special Notes
Izzy suffers from hydrocephalus and will need special monitoring.
Jack
Meet Jack! Jack is a 4 yr old beautiful fawn male. Jack has a beautiful, soft coat. He is very loving and loves to play. He seems to be crate trained and housebroken, but having just recently been neutered, he still wants to mark. This should lessen with time. Jack is mild heartworm positive and he undergo treatment for that in the upcoming weeks. Jack will do well with a family who wants an active playmate. He would do well as both an only dog or as a member of a multi dog household.
Jake
Jake is a fawn male. He is 6 years old. He comes to us from a local animal control facility. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment soon. He also has dry eye and will need drops to help lubricate his eyes. He has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations.
Update: We are thrilled to report that Jake has just completed his heartworm treatment! This means he is healthy and ready to go to his new home!
Jane
Jane is a wonderful fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter where her owner surrendered her due to her age. We think there's nothing wrong with an "experienced" pug, so we snapped her up and promised her a new (better) home. She is heartworm negative and is current on her vaccinations. But most importantly, she is a lively little girl with personality plus!
From Jane's foster: Jane is one of the most beautiful senior girls I know. She is 10-12 years old. She was taken by her "family" to a local shelter to be put down. There is NOTHING wrong with her...except she is a little bossy to the young pugs.
Jane is great. I call her Mama Bug, because she likes to keep the young ones in line. She will run after them barking if she thinks they are being too noisy or playing too rough. She really works to keep Jasper in line He is her special project. I love her. I have many fosters that come through my home, but Jane holds a special place in my heart. She is such a darling, squishy girl and she needs a great family that will spoil her rotten for the remainder of her life.
Jasper
This is Jasper - an adorable fawn male. He is 2 years old. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is a very happpy, healthy little guy.
Jasper is full of energy and ready for anything. He loves to play and gets on very well with other dogs. He will need a home that is ready for an energetic guy and can provide him with structure and training.
Sadly, this is not Jasper's first time with us. He had been adopted out to a family that thought they were ready for his energy but had underestimated just how much work a pug pup can be. We cannot stress how important it is that whoever is interested in Jasper (or any other young pug) be aware that they will require a lot of attention and correction. Once they're trained they are trained for life, but they will require some time and attention to get that way. If you're in a position to do this, please consider Jasper. He has a lot of love to give to a family that is ready to devote some time to him.
Jody
Jody is a 9 year old fawn female who came to us from a local animal shelter. Therefore, we don't know anything about her past life. She has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She has been microchipped and is heartworm negative.
From Jody's foster: Jody is doing better than ever! She is getting around quite well despite a little arthritis. Daily walks and playing with any and every toy are two of her favorite things to do. She would do well as an only dog so she can be more spoiled than ever, but she also does quite well with other dogs as long as they don't have to share food and toys! She is a big cuddle bug. While she loves to lay around, she is quite the spunky little old lady. She is currently on a much-needed diet and has already lost a little weight! She sleeps on her own bed at night, but would more than love to be in a real person bed as well. Be warned, this little lady can snore with the best of them. Additionally, she has very proper house manners... she is proud to share that she is completely house trained! She does have some mild vision loss, but this has never and will never stop her. Jody "Foster" loves her retired life and wants to share it forever with someone very special.
Josie
Josie is a 6 year old fawn female. She comes to us from a local animal shelter and it is believed that this poor little girl was a puppy mill survivor. She how now been spayed, microchipped and brought up to date on her vaccinations. Thankfully she is heartworm negative. She does have degenerative hip disease, which means her hips are weak. She would be ideally suited to a home with no stairs or with a family that doesn't mind carrying her up and down. She's a sweet girl who is learning to love attention and deserves to find out what it's like to be somebody's cherished pet.
Kibby
Kibby is a fawn female. She is 4 years old. She is heartworm negative and in good health except for her skin. She has been covered in fleas and on a poor diet so her skin isn't in very good shape right now. But that will change now that her fleas are gone and she's eating proper food. She seems a little timid and scared with strangers right now but she is a sweet little girl.
Kingsley
Kingsley is a fawn male. He comes to us from an animal control facility. We believe he is about 8 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. We don't believe he was an inside dog in his prior life due to his heartworm status and the fact that he was not housetrained. He is learning quickly what it's like to live indoors, and seems to like it!
From Kinglsey's foster: He is a real sweetheart. He loves the other pugs and gets along well with other breeds when we walk. He does demand attention though when the other dogs are around. They usually all sleep in one bed in the office during the day and he sleeps next to me at night. He does this cute thing where he will sit down next to one of the dogs or a person and he just rests his head on them, like he is on the pic on Rosie (see additional photos)
Layla 2
Layla is a fawn female. She is 3 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. She has been spayed and microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
Lee
Lee is a fawn male. He is 5 years old. He comes to us from a local animal control facility. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He also has a mass on his right rear leg that is being evaluated. He has been microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.
Update: We are thrilled to report that Lee has completed his heartworm treatment! Also, the mass on his leg has been checked by our vet and found to be nothing to worry about. This means this little guy is all clear and ready for his new home!
Lexi
Lexi is an adorable fawn female. She is 10 years old. She is heartworm negative and has been spayed. Lexi came to us with a bad case of kidney stones. When our Vet performed her spay he also planned to remove the stones. However, her one kidney was so badly damaged due to the stones that he ended up removing it as well. She should do just fine with one kidney as we have seen this with other dogs who lived normal lives after this kind of surgery. She will need to be on special food to make sure she doesn't get anymore stones in her remaining kidney. Right now little Lexi is recovering from her surgery but with antibiotics and her new food she should make a full recovery and be ready for her new home really soon!
From Lexi's foster: I am happy to report that she is healing up nicely! Her stitches are out and Dr. Hendrix put her on a special diet to prevent future kidney stone problems. Unfortunately, she will have to adhere to this diet for the rest of her life. That's ok, because Lexi seems to love her new food! She is running, jumping and playing catch like there's no tomorrow! She's an extremely energetic little girl. She loves playing with her 'burger'. If she wants attention, she will let you know by either vocalizing it or rubbing against your leg like a cat!! She enjoys walks and playing fetch. She's also incredibly smart. The only negative is that she continues to have 'accidents', but Dr. Hendrix assured me that this could be from having chronic bladder infections due to the stones and that it should clear up in a couple of weeks. She's a sweet and loving little girl that glows when she is given affection.
Lilly 2
Lilly is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe she is about 10 years old. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative. She is suffering from itchy skin - possibly due to poor nutrition or allergies. She also has some coughing and sneezing so we will have her checked by our vet.
Luke
Luke is a fawn male. He is 9 years old. He is in good health. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is an owner surrender. Sadly, this is our second time trying to find Luke a new home. He gets anxious about being left alone and would do best with someone who is mostly home all day. He is very good with other animals and around children. He is a cuddler and loves to be held or on your lap. He enjoys being outdoors and car rides.

Macy 2
Macy is a black female. She is 4 years old and comes to us from a local kill shelter. She is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. Macy has obviously been living on the streets for a while and is in pretty bad shape right now. She is suffering from sarcoptic mange, skin infection, ear infection and has an ulcer on her eye. She is not currently spayed but we will address that once her condition improves.

Marvin
Marvin is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local animal control facility so we don't know his history. We believe he is 8 or 9 years old. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.
From Marvin's foster: Marvin is one cool, old dude!!!! He is so funny! He has quite a range of noises he makes, when I'm playing with him he makes is grr/whine noise deep in his throat and when he's in his crate and wants out he makes a noise that sounds like Cringer just before he turns into Battlecat (for those of you too young to remember, that's He Man's sidekick). Marvin constantly make me smile or laugh.
Marvin is almost completely blind, I believe he is able to see light from dark because he doesn't run into anything but that's about all he can see. We hope that we will be able to save his eyes and what small amount of sight he has with daily medication. He's getting very good at navigating around the house and can now find the sliding glass door from outside!!! As you can see from his pictures he's quite a couch potato and he loves to claim the pillow as his for the night!!! He also has a great face to scrunch up and kiss!
Marvin is an awesome old gentleman! He's in good health and would really make someone a great companion. Don't let his limited vision rule him out for you, contrary to what is believed a blind dog isn't really that much different than a sighted dog. I have four dogs in my home that are either blind or nearly blind and they are all just as happy and playful as the sighted dogs. I adopted one of those dogs almost three years ago and I have constantly been amazed at how awesome Quincy is and have never regreted my decison. Please consider giving Marvin that forever home that every Pug deserves!
Mason
Mason is a fawn male. We believe he is about 6 or 7 years old. He was discovered living alone in a backyard - it seems his people moved away and left him behind in the yard. Thankfully, this little guy is pretty resilient and doesn't seem upset by much of anything. That's a good thing since he has a few issues to deal with. Since nobody was looking after him he is heartworm positive. He will begin treatment shortly. Also, he has severe vision problems. We're not sure that he sees much of anything, but that hasn't kept him down! He never runs into anything and finds his way around just fine. He is housebroken and would make someone a wonderful companion. He is just as sweet as he can be. And look at that face! How can you resist?
Matilda
Matilda is a fawn female. She is a senior - probably 10 to 12 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is deaf and has serious vision impairment. She barks only when the others are barking (even if she has no idea why). Matilda is a grand old lady looking for a comfortable place to rest her tired body. She is heartworm negative and we believe that we feel an old spay scar. Matilda is on ear and eye meds.
May
May is a fawn female. She is approximately 6 years old. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. She seems to have been on her own for a while. She is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. She will be scheduled for a teeth cleaning soon.
Meera
Meera is a fawn female who we estimate to be 5 years old. She is heart-worm positive and will begin treatment soon. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations.
From Meera's foster: We believe Meera came from a puppy mill. It was obvious that she had never been inside a home or even eaten out of a food bowl before. She was neglected and was extremely underweight. As a result of the abuse she was very fearful of people. But it only took a matter of days before she realized what she had been missing. A warm lap, people to love on her and a comfortable bed to sleep was all it took to transform her into a grateful and sweet little lady. She had to learn everything about living inside of a home and how to share it with people, children and other dogs. Meera is now housebroken and crate trained. She doesn't fear people but still flinches if you move too fast towards her. She is a very sweet lap dog and is curious about what is going on in the house. She follows us around in hopes that she gets a touch or even a smile. She gets along great with all of the dogs that she has met. She does still get excited when it is feeding time. She has learned that she will only get food when she responds correctly to the command sit and must wait patiently for her food bowl. She loves to chew on rawhides and has learned to play with toys. Meera loves to cuddle with both people and her furry friends. She is usually laid back; she is not the alpha type but does stand her ground when challenged. She is a wonderful little soul with all the appreciation and love that I have seen in puppy mill dogs. Meera would make a wonderful dog for any type of family because I have seen how easily she can adapt to new situations.
Update: We are thrilled to report that Meera has completed her heartworm treatment and is now clear! This means she is ready for her new home!
Merle
Merle is a fawn male. He is about 4 years old. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. It looks like nobody has looked after him for a while. He is severe heartworm positive. He also came to us with hookworms, covered in fleas with several hot spots. This poor guy was so itchy and comfortable. He has been treated for the fleas and hookworms and will start his heartworm treatment shortly.
From Merle's foster: Little Merle (I call him Merle-o) is a very sweet, playful male. He gets along with other dogs and children. He knows how to use a doggy door and lets himself in and out when we're home on the weekends; however, we are reinforcing his potty training when the doggy door isn't available. He likes to sleep with people and wakes you up with lots of licks! He'd do well with another dog and children. He likes to sit in your lap and lick your hand and arm or just snuggle up and nap. Once he is treated for his heart worms, he'll make someone a good pug to love. Please consider giving Merle-o a home, he deserves one.
Miley
Miley is a fawn female. She is 3 years old. She comes to us from a local animal control facility. She is heartworm negative. She has been brought current on her vaccinations and microchipped. She is not yet spayed but will be prior to placement.
From Miley's foster: She is very affectionate and loves to be on your lap. When she's hungry and tries to get your attention, she talks! It's hilarious!
Millie
Millie is a fawn female. She is 4 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is in good health. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
Missy 2
Missy is a fawn female. She is an owner surrender. She is 12 years old. She is extremely overweight and is now on a diet. She is suffering from arthritis in her back and hips so it is important that she drop some weight to help her joints. She is also suffering from ear infections. She is heartworm negative.
From Missy's foster: Missy is an older lady and, as with all senior pugs, is quite a sweetheart. When she first arrived I was quite concerned that she was going to grieve herself to death. I couldn't get her to eat and she just looked at me with blank eyes, it was quite devastating to see such a sad pug. Then one day while I was eating I noticed that she had perked up and was quite interested in what I was doing so I gave her a bite of my dinner. It was like a switch had been flipped and she was a different dog, I have really never seen anything like it. While I had to get some of the weight off of her because of her bad back I had to keep her going so I started giving her low cal bites (it wasn't bad for me either). I'm happy to report that Missy is quite well adjusted and happy now. She loves to go outside and just amble around the yard, when she's ready to come back in she will lay down outside the door and wait for me to open it. She's an undemanding, awesome lady!
She loves to be held or lay next to me on the couch. She is such a sweet old girl and really needs to have someone give her a home for her golden years. She isn't high maintenance, the only medicine she takes is pain medication for her back. She has a very low activity level so she would do well in a home with no young children.
Molly 2
Molly is a sweet fawn female. She was an owner surrender. She is 8 years old and in very good health. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
Molly is a very sweet girl. She is very well behaved and housetrained. She LOVES treats. She also seems to like baths - whenever her foster is in the bath or shower she'll try to get in. She moves around and jumps on and off the couch like a youngster! When it's treat time, or just about anytime she gets excited, she runs in a circle! She doesn't just wag her tail either, her entire backend moves when she's happy.
Natasha
Natasha is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. She is in good health; she is heartworm negative. She has been brought current on her vaccinations, microchipped and spayed.
Oscar 2
Oscar is a black male. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is 7 years old. He has been neutered and is current on his vaccinations.
Otis 2
Otis is a gorgeous fawn male. He is an owner surrender. He is 9 years old. He is in good health except for being a tad overweight and having a touch of arthritis. He is heartworm negative. This sweet boy needs a nice relaxing home where he can live out his golden years being the pampered companion he is meant to be.
Otto
Otto is a fawn male. He is 8 years old. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm negative. He does have severe dry eye and will require daily eye drops. He also seems to have a bad left knee.
Paige
Paige is a black female. She comes to us from a local animal control facility. We believe she is about 4 years old. This poor little girl has not been looked after for a while. She is suffering from worms and her left eye appears injured. We are having her evaluated.
Update from Paige's foster: Paige is much healthier now. She is worm free, eating well and gaining weight like a good little puggie! She cannot see very well, but that does not stop her from following along with me everywhere I go. She needs medicine in her eyes and is very patient while I put it in. She is a sweet girl and is content to just hang out most of the time. She does run to the door barking with the other pugs when the doorbell rings. She likes to keep up with them, but usually runs back to me if they go too far in the yard. Her favorite position is lying half in my lap while we watch TV. She loves to play in the morning when she first wakes up. Such a cutie!
Patsy
Patsy is somewhere between 14 and 17 yrs old. She is a talker and will scream until she gets what she wants, usually your total attention. She sleeps in the bed and prefers to sleep at the foot of the bed so that she can monitor what is going on. She has had a few mast cell cancers develop, but has had no issues in the last several months. She loves her Daddy and will follow him everywhere he goes. Patsy is a great companion and is looking for a comfortable place to live out her life.
Pearl
Pearl is a sweet fawn female. She is 13 years old and an absolute doll. She is an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She is heartworm negative. She is current on her vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. She is in excellent health but is deaf. She has a mass on her right rear leg that will be removed soon which does not affect her gait at all. While no Pug should be an outside dog, Pearl is especially intolerent of the heat and cannot be outside this time of year for very long.
Pearl is described by her foster as a 'little shadow.' She loves to be near her human and will follow you around. She loves to snuggle her person in bed at night. She is used to being an only dog and would do well by herself or with a submissive companion.

Penelope 3
Penelope is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. We believe she is about 10 years old. She is heartworm negative. She is suffering from general neglect - bad eyes, skin and teeth. She also has tapeworms which we are treating as well as a mass on her belly which we are having evaluated.
From Penny's foster: Penelope (or Penny as I call her) has settled in quite well. When she first arrived she had quite a large mass on her stomach and it was discovered that her spleen and intestines were hanging on the outside of her body. Well no wonder the old girl was having some trouble walking! She had surgery to repair the issue and has made an amazing recovery.
Penny is a very sweet lady. She is quite friendly and likes be on my lap to take her naps. If I have a lap full of other fosters at the time she is just as willing to go to her little bed by the couch and take her nap there. She is a very easy going old girl. As with any senior, she isn't a ball of energy. She does still have quite a funny walk with her back legs being a little crooked from old age and I think from having the tumor so long. But she gets around just fine and seems to be enjoying her life now.
To my surprise she is completely house trained, she has never had an accident in the house. Penny would rather not have to deal with other dogs. She will growl at them if they get too close to her face. She isn't mean by any stretch of the imagination she just doesn't like to have them get too close to her; however, she only growls at them if they are the aggressor. Who knows what has happened to her in her life to make her like this.. I correct her anytime I hear her do it and she is beginning to be more tolerant of the others invading her personal space.
Penny sure is a sweet, loving, and undemanding little lady. Even though she is 10 years old that really isn't that old for a pug, she's got a lot of good, happy years left in her future. She really deserves someone to give her a safe, warm home and let her know that she is going to be loved for the rest of her life.
Pepper
Pepper is a beautiful dark fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is 4 years old. She is heartworm negative. She has greatly diminished vision but in otherwise good health. This is a relief as she appears to have come from a breeding facility. She has now been spayed. She is current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped.
From Pepper's foster: When Pepper first came to me, she appeared to be a dog that was born at a puppy mill and then kept for breeding. She had typical pacing crate behavior and didn't understand proper potty behavior. However, after just 2 weeks she was potty trained when kept on a schedule. We are fairly routine-oriented in the dog household. She is a sweet little dog who is learning to accept human touch. Inside the home she is a happy little dog who enjoys chewing rawhide strips, and playing tug-o-war with stuffed animals. She likes to sleep in a tight group with the other dogs, and when allowed to sleep on the bed she cuddles up very close to her human. She is almost totally blind only being able to see some movement on the left side. That has not stopped her from learning the lay-out of the house or backyard. She goes rushing full speed through the dog door without hitting the sides. Pepper will need ointment placed in her eyes twice daily for the rest of her life.
She does have more anxiety when she goes out on walks but we take those twice a day and she likes to do her potty on those walks, in addition to potty in the backyard. I just talk to her during the walk so she knows I am there.
This would be an outstanding little companion dog for an older person or couple. When she is outside and the kids of the neighborhood are all playing and shouting Pep gets a little frazzled. It would take a little more work to get her at ease in a situation with kids. She gets along well with the other 3 dogs in our home. Her blindness doesn't seem to hamper things. Please consider meeting this funny little dog. She loves being loved on.
Percy
Percy is a black male. He came to us from a local animal control facility. He is 8 years old. He is in pretty good health and is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.
From Percy's foster: Percy has already adjusted to my schedule; only the first night was a bit hard on him. That first night he'd whine-howl then nod off to sleep, then he'd repeat until he was too fatigued to continue. When he woke that second day he was accepting of his foster home...especially after I fed him. Now he rarely barks...OK...never barks. He was obviously someone's pet because he's house-trained, well-behaved, and a lap dog. He loves attention! He follows me around the house but he does sleep a lot...probably because he's a senior pug. He also doesn't play with toys. His eyes are clear but I don't think he sees that well because he'll trot past me when I know he's looking for me. He'll whimper and shuffle-dance when I arrive home...it's a terrible Bojangles imitation. I walk him twice daily and he is always drawn to children.
Petunia
Petunia is a black female. She was found on the streets with no tags or microchip. It's obvious nobody has been looking after her because she is severe heartworm positive and was found suffering from a large bladder stone. Our vet removed the stone and we are happy to report she is doing fantastic! She is starting heartworm treatment now. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations.
Although we think she is about 7 years old, this gal is far from a little old lady! She is full of life and now that she's not suffering from bladder stones she intends to live it!
Pharoah
Pharoah is a fawn male. He is an owner surrender. He is 7 1/2 years old. He is suffering from back leg/spine issues and has difficulty walking. He is being evaluated. He is not neutered at present. He is heartworm negative. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped.
Phil
Phil is a sweet fawn male. He came to us from a local shelter, so not much is known about him. We estimate he is between 8 to 10 years old. He has been brought current on his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. He does have 'dry eye' that is so common in pugs. Due to this he has suffered some vision loss. He is on medicated drops and will need those daily for the rest of his life. Otherwise he is in very good health with no further issues.
UPDATE from Phil's foster Mom: Dr. Phil - True to his namesake DR Phil is a handsome gent who aspires to have his own talk show. He is a loyal fellow who would gladly guard hearth and home with his mighty little bark and his keen wit. In between his rehearsing he likes nothing more than a soft toy, a kind word and a soft lap to snuggle. He actually may just have the perfect puggie tail with just the right little twist. He has it all- personality, charm, loyalty and an analytical side should you need a kind soul to talk to - making him a lot of personality in a compact package. He is not fond of cats ( he knows what they are thinking) but might consider them on a bun with horse radish- just kidding - he barks and they saunter away.

Porter
Porter is a fawn male. He came to us after he was found wandering the streets. We believe he is about 3 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations.
From Porter's foster: Porter is a perfect gentleman, even though he's been a stray for awhile. He knows about doggy doors and doesn't go potty anywhere but outside. He's the first one in my bed at night. He sleeps at the end of the bed all night long and likes to sleep in when he can. He loves to be petted while sitting in your lap, but is content to lay by your feet and wait his turn for petting. Each day he gains a little weight and gets prettier all the time. He stands up on his hind legs to "beg" for a treat and is learning that I prefer that they sit. He is going to make someone a terrific pet once he is cured of his heartworms.
Update: We are thrilled to report that Porter has completed his heartworm treatment and is now clear! This means he is ready for his new home!
Punky 2
Punky (now renamed Pinky) is a beautiful fawn female. She is 4 years old. She is an owner surrender. She is heartworm negative, has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations and is microchipped. Punky is currently being evaluated by our vet for some possible neurological issues and is currently on medical hold until we know what issues she may have.
Roadie
Roadie is a fawn male. He has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations. He is heartworm positive.
From Roadie's foster: Roadie is a sweet lovable guy. He was found wandering the streets and brought to us. He is severe heartworm positive and is working through the treatment. Roadie is a cuddler and much prefers to be with his person. He has severe dry eye and has lost a fair amount of his vision. This does not slow him down much and he loves to play with the other pugs in the house.
Roadie prefers a more relaxed home life (where cuddles are the top priority of the day) and is very interested in your couch (or bed) and the movie list you can offer. He loves to sleep right up next to you, so that he knows how much he is loved and can love you back. We love this guy and know that you will too.
Rocky 2
Rocky is a sweet fawn male. He is 7 years old. He is heartworm positive. He also has arthritis in his back legs and hips along with some poor muscle tone. He gets around fine but won't be winning any races anytime soon. He has some limits to his vision but he definitely has sight. He's a big boy - about 30 pounds - but he's not really overweight.
Rocky was definitely somebody's pet once. He is very well behaved. He is house trained. He's a mellow old guy who loves attention. He will even seek you out. He enjoys people and is very good around children. He also does very well with other animals.
From Rocky's foster: He is very gentle for being such a large boy (30#) He is good with other animals and also children. He could be an only dog but likes to be part of the group. He has completed HW treatment and is clear. He is on daily medication for his arthritis, though he goes up and down stairs easily. However, he doesn't jump up on the sofa or chairs (though he likes it if you put him up there) He plays with soft toys. He is housetrained and loves to cuddle.
Ruby
Ruby is a fawn female. She is a youngster at only 1 year old. She came to us when she was dropped off at a local vet's office to be put to sleep. She has degenerative hip problems which means she has difficulty walking. We never refuse any pug regardless of medical condition and we certainly don't believe Ruby's life isn't worth living so we have promised her that we will find her a loving home where she can life a long, happy life. She is in otherwise good health; she is heartworm negative. She has been neutered, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations.
Samantha
Samantha is a fawn female. She is about 6 years old. She has been spayed, microchipped and is now current on her vaccinations. She is in excellent health.
From her foster: Samantha is a sweetie! She acts like she's about 2 - she loves to play with toys and other dogs. She gets on very well with our crew. She would probably do best in a house with other dogs. She is learning what a cat is and not to chase it! She appears good with kids.
She knows basic commands like Sit, as well as how to play fetch. She even knows how to swim! She is completely housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. She loves attention and will follow you from room to room. She'll sleep at our feet when we're watching TV but at bedtime she likes to sleep in the big bed with us. She doesn't snore too badly, but when she's awake she does snort quite a lot. Her tongue just barely sticks out almost all the time. She's a very sweet, loving, playful girl who would make a great family pet.
Sir Bugsbee
Sir Bugsbee is a fawn male. He is 8 years old and was an owner surrender. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.
From his foster: Sir Bugsbee is a big boy who loves life and adapts very quickly to his foster family and his surroundings. He does have some medical problems. He has limited eye sight, but gets around very well once he knows his surroundings. His breath is bad because of dental problems, but since he has been with his foster family and on a true dog food diet, his breath and teeth have started to improve. He is also overweight, but is slowly losing some excess pounds. He is like a big teddy bear.
However, these are minor problems when you consider how sweet, loyal and loving a dog he is. One can not but love his spirit. He only wants to be part of his foster family and have fun. He loves to be chased and loves to be part of the doggie gang with his foster brothers and sisters. He has the softest fur and loves to be petted. He does not get onto furniture, although his new family could easily train him to sit on their lap. Please consider adopting Sir B. and making him a loving member of your family.
Skeeter
Skeeter is a fawn male. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is about 9 years old. Sadly, he has tested heartworm positive so he will begin treatment shortly. He also has some mast cell tumors on his body. He has been neutered and is current on his vaccinations.
From Skeeter's foster: Skeeter had a hard life, but you would never know it. He loves, loves, loves his toys. He runs around the house with a toy in his mouth all the time wanting someone to play with him. He enjoys being scratched and cuddled. He is house trained and very well mannered. You would never know that he is nine years old, certainly doesn't look like it or act like it. He would make such a loving pet for kids and families with one or many dogs. If you meet Skeeter you will fall in love with him. This dogs mission in life is only to love you back.

Tucker 2
Tucker is a black male. He is 1 year old and an owner surrender. He is in excellent health; he is heartworm negative. He is current on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.
From Tucker's foster: Tucker is not your typical pug-he has A LOT of energy! He is a VERY playful pug--and has no trouble keeping up with our Boxer. He gets along well with large and small dogs-and needs to have an active playmate! Tucker is still very much a puppy and might be a little too playful for a family with small children. Tucker is crate trained, and is doing very well with potty training. Tucker is still learning the finer points of being a spoiled pug, like how to enjoy treats and that cats are friends not foes!
Whitney
Whitney is a 7 year old fawn female rescued from a puppy mill. She is in Hospice care with her foster Mom.
From Whitney's foster Mom: I took Whitney to be my foster about 2 ½ years ago. When I took her home she was in really rough shape was warned that she wouldn’t last long. I was determined to make the last few months of her life the best any pug has ever had. I’m very happy to report that she has proved everyone wrong and is still going strong! She had such a horrific life as a puppy mill dog for the first five years. When we got her she had one eye that had to be removed and she had a growth on her leg that went from her spine down to the knee joint of her left hind leg. We original thought it was an infection but after it was removed and tested it showed that she had mass cell cancer. Some of the mass cell dogs have external tumors that make it easy to see that something is wrong, but Whitney has internal mass cell so we never know when it will rear its ugly head. But so far we have been very lucky and the medicine she takes on a daily basis seems to be keeping her in relatively good health. Although the last several months I have noticed that she doesn’t seem to have as much energy and her coat is getting pretty rough looking.
But let me tell you, Whitney is one happy puggie girl! I have often said that if she were a real little girl she would be the head cheerleader! She is always very excited to be pet, to have me come home, to have someone play with her, any thing seems to excite her ? She doesn’t know that she’s sick and that’s fine with me. She loves to be loved, although she’s not big on sitting on my lap unless she doesn’t feel good, so I’m very happy to have her on the floor playing. Her VERY favorite thing to do is play tug o’ war with one of the other pugs or me. She will play and play until she wears the other one out and they give up and go lay down. She is really pretty small for a pug and has a very pretty face. Whitney had about the worst life that I can imagine but true to the recovery ability of a pug she has left it all behind her and lives in the present and is very happy with the situation. As you will notice from some of the pictures, she has a diaper on. As with most puppy mill dogs she has a severe marking problem. When I got her I didn’t want to traumatize her by always running at her when she was making a mess so I decided I would just put a diaper on her for the time she would be with me and let her be happy. I’m so use to it now that it’s not a big deal. But if someone told me several years ago I would be changing a dog’s diapers I would have told them they were crazy. She is losing the sight in her eye, but she can still see dark and light and it hasn’t seemed to impair her in any way unless the light is not good and then she has some issues. She is learning to come to my voice so I think she will be better prepared when she is completely blind than one that is blinded suddenly.
Special Notes
Whitney is in Hospice care due to her cancer.
Winston 4
Winston is a fawn male. He is 9 years old and is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.
From Winston's foster: Winston has completed his heartworm treatment and is clear. He is slowly gaining some weight. Though he gets along with other animals he would love to be an only dog. He is mostly housetrained but is eager to please. I think he has been abused and is therefore a little wary at first. Plus he has some vision issues with the dark. But once he learns the house routine he relaxes and gets on fine. He is a cuddler and likes to be able to touch his person when sleeping at night.
Yoda 2
Yoda is an 8 year old fawn male. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is now heartworm negative, having gone through heartworm treatment. He is in pretty good health but does have some residual heart damage which means he needs daily medication to keep his heart strong. He also suffers from 'dry eye' which is so common in pugs. He will need daily drops to his eyes to keep him comfortable.
