Abigail
Abigail is a fawn female. We estimate she is around 3 years old. This poor little girl was found wandering the streets, following a homeless man for companionship. This sweet girl hasn't been cared for by anyone for quite some time. Sadly, she has tested positive for heartworms. She will begin treatment soon. She has been spayed and we've brought her current on her vaccinations.

From Abby's Foster: Abby is very intelligent. She has picked up on her name very quickly and understands many commands, including sitting, lay down and cookie (doggie snack). She is the happiest pug we have seen and loves to play and run. She loves stuff animals and will play fetch. She would do best with a family with children that can play with her. She also loves to sit on laps and give kisses. She is mostly housebroken but does have occasional accidents. She is an alpha dog that can be aggressive to other dogs when they show signs of aggression. Abby has spent her time on the streets and now wants that cozy home and a permanent family that will pamper her.

Alexis
Alexis is a fawn female. She came to us from an out of state puppy mill where she was used for breeding. She is 6 years old. Poor Alexis was suffering from a painful left eye injury, hookworms and ringworms. She is also heartworm positive. We were unable to save her eye but now that it has been removed she is pain free. She has also been spayed so she never has to worry about having puppies again. Her hookworms and ringworms should be clear now that she's received medications and her heartworm treatment will begin shortly. This sweet little girl has had a pretty rough life so far but we've promised her that those days are far behind her and we will find somebody who will treat her like the cherished pet she should've always been.

Allie
Allie is a fawn female. She is about 6 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm negative. Sweet little Allie is deaf and blind so she will need a home that is a safe environment. She is currently suffering from demodectic mange but she is on medication that will clear that shortly. She has not yet been spayed but will be prior to placement.

From Allie's foster: I've had Allie for a month now and she blossoms a little more every day. Contrary to what we initially believed she is not deaf, in fact I think she has fairly good hearing. She's like a child, she has selective hearing. I can be trying to find her and she acts like she can't hear me call her but you just let me open a bag of chips and she goes bonkers when she hears the bag crackle, that is definitely not deaf. She has started responding on a more consistent basis to her name being called. I believe the combination of a new name, the blindness and a new environment confused her.

Allie is an angel with a capital A! She loves to be held and will lay in my lap as long as I will sit still. She also likes to roam around the house, she is learning where things are and she seems to be enjoying herself. I was quite surprised to discover that she is housetrained. I put her out with the other guys and she does her business. I do have to go outside to bring her in most of the time, when I call her she can't seem to locate where my voice is coming from. But this is a vast improvement from a month ago, she use to just sit in the corner of the yard and wait for me to find her. She will actually come to the door if she's close enough to find it now.

Allie is also beautiful, she has such an expressive face and will just

stare at me with her big brown eyes like she is really seeing me when I talk to her. Her ears will be perked up and she will cock her head from side to side. Allie deserves to have someone love her and give her the attention that she deserves. She really isn't a demanding little lady, she just wants to be loved. Please consider taking Allie into your heart and family, you will be forever grateful that she came into your life.

Amanda
Amanda is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local animal control facility. We believe she is just 2 years old. She is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. She also is suffering from a case of hookworms that is being treated. She has been spayed and brought current on her vaccinations. She is a really sweet little girl that deserves a chance at a healthy, happy life.

Angus
Angus is a black male. He comes to us from a local shelter. We believe he is about 10 years old. He is heartworm negative but suffers from severe dry eye. He also has arthritic hips. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Angus' foster: Meet Angus! Angus is a sweet 10 year old pug man. We aren't too sure what Angus' life was like before coming to us, but he's learning his way around his new foster life. He can't hear or see too much, but it doesn't slow his curious nature down. He has learned his way around our home and has his favorite spots to nap. He does well with other dogs, in fact he usually finds one to snuggle up with. Angus needs the perfect home where he can enjoy his days being loved for the wonderful puggy he is!

Ariel
Ariel is a fawn female. She is 3 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm postive and will begin treatment shortly. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations.

From Ariel's foster: Ariel is a sweet, gentle little lady. She loves to snuggle and give pug kisses and play chase. She is completely house trained and is very well mannered. She would love to lay on your lap bundled up in a blanket all day.

Bentley
Bentley is a 10 year old fawn male. He is an owner surrender. He is moderately heartworm positive and has begun conservative treatment. He is current on his vaccinations and has been neutered.

Bingo
Bingo is a black male. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe he is about 2 years old. He is in excellent health. He is heartworm negative and has been neutered. He is current on his vaccinations and has been microchipped. As you can see, he is a handsome, happy guy! He is very sweet and loves to play with small and big dogs.

Blake
Blake is a fawn male. He is 3 years old. He is a bog boy at 34 pounds so he needs to lose some weight. He is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

From Blake's Foster: Blake is such an handsome big boy. He may weigh 42 pounds but he acts like a big baby! Because of his weight he is on a strict diet of dog food and green beans. He is great with children and other animals and loves being held and giving kisses. He has to wear a belt around him to keep him from marking around the house, but he has almost completly dropped that habit. He loves being scratched behind the ears and is currently working on learning how to sit. Blake would fit in well with a family with other animals, or as an only dog. The only thing he wants is love, attention, and treats! Blake is such a sweet boy and has a great big heart!

Blu
Say hello to Blu. He is an 8 year old fawn male. This cutie came to us from a local shelter, so we do not know his history. However, we do know that nobody has been looking after him. He has bad hips and degenerative discs in his spine, though that does not slow him down. He has poor vision and a severe entropion eyelid (which can be corrected with surgery.) He has been neutered, microchipped and brought up to date on his vaccinations as well as having some dental work.

UPDATE from Blu's foster Mom:

Blu- A charmer, a jazz singer and a poet - what more can you ask for in a senior pug man ? He enjoys outdoors for very short periods and spends most of his time dreaming about .... what do pugs dream about? A chunk a pug ( ok he eats anything that looks edible) - he is currently watching exercise cable TV hoping that he gets in shape by osmosis. IF it works we will let you know................

Bubbles
This little girl (13 lbs) was apparently quite neglected: she was not socialized with either dogs or people. She had to learn EVERYTHING, especially respecting boundaries (canine & human). She was also guilty of resource guarding, treats, food and toys. With consistent rules and strong pack leadership she has transformed in just a few weeks from a wild child; to a calm, friendly snuggle-bug. She is completely housebroken (to OUR house: she may need some correction to generalize where it's OK to potty and where not), she sits patiently for treats and food, takes gently when hand-fed, and loves to be held, and comes when called (she knows her name). She follows you around the house wherever you go, and she is so quiet we had to put a bell on her collar to avoid tripping over the little thing.

With her health improving she should be ready for spaying and heartworm treatment soon. She is great with people (including strangers), and is getting much better with other dogs: she has several successful trips to the dog park under her belt. Just in the last couple days she has begun snuggling with my alpha bitch when no human is available. A little love-sponge, she still doesn't know what play is. Give her time though, once healthy she may very well be the perfect pug! This is one worth waiting for. And she is SO cute...

Captain
Captain is a fawn male. We estimate he is between 4 to 5 years old. He comes to us from a local shelter. He is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment immediately. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.

From Captain's foster: Captain (aka “Buddy”) is a very sweet boy, wonderful with children and other dogs. He loves to cuddle and will follow you around like your shadow. He likes to play with his toys and chew on doggie bones.

When he first came to us, he was very scrawny and flea-bitten, with heartworm and tapeworm. He has been through his heartworm treatment, and his health is much improved. He still has a slight cough and wheeze, which is being treated with medication.

He is very calm and quiet, and doesn’t bark very often. He is very well-mannered, and will sit for food and treats. He is housetrained. He loves to sleep on our bed, and would be under the covers if we let him!

Clyde
Clyde is a fawn male. He is 9 years old. He was apparently used for breeding, so he has not known what is means to be somebody's pet. As he has not been cared for properly he has tested heartworm positive. He will begin treatment shortly. He has now been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations. He is a sweet little guy who gets on well with other dogs and is not dominant. We are looking forward to helping him find that perfect family for him to live out the rest of his days as a pampered pet.

Colonel
Colonel is a fawn male. He is a 6 year old owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm negative and in good health. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is described as a "momma's boy and is happiest when he is sitting next to you."

Cris
Cris (formerly Cristal) is a fawn male. We're not sure about the name so we're hoping that whoever adopts him thinks of a better one!

We will post a full bio for Cris as well as more photos once he has settled into his foster home.

Deegan
Hi! My name is Deegan...........and I am a HOARDER! My hoarding item of choice is anything plush with a squeaker. I live to destroy squeaky toys, I know it's a problem, which is why I attend hoarders anonymous meetings on a regular basis. I am a 2 year old neutered male, who is looking for the home with the most toys. I have an eye condition that requires drops once a day, but that doesn't stop me from finding toys or food, or even my foster mom's doggie door. I have very limited vision, but have a very positive, happy go lucky personality despite that fact! I am severe heart worm positive, and will be undergoing treatment as soon as Pughearts can get me some medicine. I love to sleep on the bed with my mom, and my two new pug friends, and even the cat! I potty outside, and only occasionally piddle in the house. I really like kids, and they seem to like me which is good because they don't seem to mind when I give them puggie kisses. I've got lots of love to give.....if you've got the squeaky toys!! :)

Diesel
Diesel is a black male. He comes to us from a local puppy mill. He is 4 years old. He will be checked out by our vet and neutered, then we will post an update on this gorgeous guy.

Dottie
Dot is the matron of the house. She is bossy and will yell at the younger or new fosters that join our house. Dottie is blind, but still manages to chase the new fosters around the yard for a few hours. She is Daddy's girl and loves for him to come home and rub her face. She will reach for him hand and nuzzle her face against him until her rubs on her again. This can go on for hours. We do not have an exact age for Dottie, she is somewhere between 13-16 years old. She came to us from a local shelter where she was taken by her owner. She was blind, skinny and scared the day we took her out of there. She was no bigger than a dot, hence the name. Dottie has been with us for more than a year. She is a happy loving girl looking for a place to be loved for the remainder of her life.

Ella
Ella is a fawn female. She came to us from an out of state puppy mill where she was used for breeding. She is 5 years old. She did have hookworms but those have been treated. She is in surprisingly good health for a dog forced to live outside. She is heartworm negative. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. Though she is in pretty good health physically, she is typical of puppy mill survivors in that she is quite timid and frightened of strangers. She will need a family who can gently teach her what it is like to be part of a loving family.

Eric
Eric is a fawn male. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe he is about 7 or 8 months old. He is heartworm negative and has been neutered. He is a very skinny little guy who is suffering from hookworms. He is being treated and they should be clear soon. He is doing very well in his foster home and has started to put on some weight. He is working on his house training and doing very well learning to live indoors. He gets on well with children.

Freeman
Freeman is a black male. We believe he is between 10 to 12 years old. He came to us from a puppy mill where he was used for breeding. He has now been neutered and can enjoy his "retirement." He had a bad case of hookworms but that has cleared with medication. He does have some vision and hearing limitations. He is current on his vaccinations and has been microchipped. He is heartworm negative.

From Freeman's foster: Meet Freeman! He is a very sweet, snuggly, little old man. Freeman came to us from a horrific puppy mill situation. We expect that he has lived most of his life outside. Despite this, he's doing pretty well adjusting to his new life indoors. He actually seems to be housebroken. He doesn't see or hear very well, but he still gets around quite well. He has no other known health issues. He loves to be held and loved, I guess he's making up for lost time. He gets along with other dogs and doesn't bother cats either! Freeman needs a special someone who is willing to give him lots of love for the rest of his life!

Gherkin
Do you remember our "Pickle" pug imposter? Well, here's our latest "Gherkin!"

We were asked to take in a stray "pug" but when we picked him up we could obviously tell he was no pug. However, he needed us so we took him in. We think he is a poodle/terrier mix and is about 5 or 6 years old. His is a little guy. Unfortunately he is severe heartworm positive so he will begin treatment shortly. He will also be neutered. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He's a really sweet boy who just loves attention.

Hamlet And Romeo
Meet Hamlet and Romeo, two brothers who will steal your heart!

Hamlet is 8 and Romeo is 7 years old. They are current on vaccinations and in good health. They have been neutered and microchipped.

These boys are owner surrenders through no fault of their own. They are housebroken, well behaved and get on well with other dogs. They also are good with children, having come from a home with small kids.

Having spent their whole lives together, these two are very attached to each other. We are hoping to find a special family for these guys so that we can keep them together

Hercules
Hercules is a 7 year old fawn male. He comes to us from a local shelter so his history is unknown. He is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment immediately. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He has been neutered.

Hillary
Hillary is a 13-14 yr old female. She prefers to sleep in the bed and receive the majority of your time. Hillary has mast cell cancer, but is doing well medically. She has some CHF and aging issues and is on medication for her heart and arthritis. Hillary is a sweet gently lady. She is housebroken and does well with the other dogs in the house. She sleeps in the bed and loves to snuggle with her people. She gives gentle, sweet kisses and enjoys long movies. (The longer you stay still, the happier Hillary is.)

Hunter
Hunter is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local shelter. We believe he is about 4 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From his foster: Hunter seemed very scared to be touched when we first received him, he would not eat for the first few meals and when we final got him to eat he had to be sat with until he was done. Now Hunter enjoys being petted and brushed,he has graduated to eating on his own and he will even bark at the other dogs if they try to come to his bowl. Hunter is a very sweet and loving dog. He loves to give and receive kisses. He is very excitable, full of energy and loves to play with our other Pugs. He likes to be the center of attention and petting. If there is love to be given he would love to be the recipient. Hunter loves people!! Hunter will do good in a forever home with or without kids. Hunter loves to play so would most likely do better in a home with a fur friend to play with. Hunter just need to be loved and taken care of,as it seems he did not receive much of this before he was rescued. We are still working on potty-training, Hunter is doing great he has learned to use the potty pads now we are working on going outside. Just 5 minutes with Hunter and he will steal your heart!!

Indy
Hello my name is Indy (short for Indiana Jones)! I was named because of the adventure I went on before coming to PugHearts. I am about 1 ½ years old and was covered w/ Sarcoptic Mange and almost starved to death before I was rescued by PugHearts. I am no longer contagious, but still a little itchy :) My foster mom is helping me to gain weight and hair right now. I love to play with my toys and my foster brothers, but my favorite thing to do is cuddle up next to you on the couch. Would you consider giving me a home?

Izzy
Izzy is a sweet fawn female. She is 2 years old. She comes to us as an owner surrender due to her medical condition. Izzy has been seen by a neurologist who has determined that she is suffering from hydrocephalus (water on the brain.) This means that she has a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid around her brain. This is usually only seen in puppies but Izzy developed this within the last year. It has affected her walking but she still gets around well. As her symptoms have not progressed and her condition has stabilized, no further treatment is necessary. She will need to be monitored for changes and if any occur she should be seen by the neurologist.

Izzy is a very sweet girl. She comes to you for affection; she puts her nose on you to let you know she wants attention. She navigates around her foster house and yard well but does not do too well with steps. She sleeps up on the human bed but needs to be put up and down. She still has some tics - expecially when eating, and takes time to process things. She comes when called but just takes a little longer. She does not tolerate loud noises well. She seems to enjoy being around other dogs and sleeps with them.

Special Notes

Izzy suffers from hydrocephalus and will need special monitoring.

Jack
Meet Jack! Jack is a 4 yr old beautiful fawn male. Jack has a beautiful, soft coat. He is very loving and loves to play. He seems to be crate trained and housebroken, but having just recently been neutered, he still wants to mark. This should lessen with time. Jack is mild heartworm positive and he undergo treatment for that in the upcoming weeks. Jack will do well with a family who wants an active playmate. He would do well as both an only dog or as a member of a multi dog household.

Jane
Jane is a wonderful fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter where her owner surrendered her due to her age. We think there's nothing wrong with an "experienced" pug, so we snapped her up and promised her a new (better) home. She is heartworm negative and is current on her vaccinations. But most importantly, she is a lively little girl with personality plus!

From Jane's foster: Jane is one of the most beautiful senior girls I know. She is 10-12 years old. She was taken by her "family" to a local shelter to be put down. There is NOTHING wrong with her...except she is a little bossy to the young pugs.

Jane is great. I call her Mama Bug, because she likes to keep the young ones in line. She will run after them barking if she thinks they are being too noisy or playing too rough. She really works to keep Jasper in line He is her special project. I love her. I have many fosters that come through my home, but Jane holds a special place in my heart. She is such a darling, squishy girl and she needs a great family that will spoil her rotten for the remainder of her life.

Jasper
This is Jasper - an adorable fawn puppy. He is now nearly 2 years old and still quite the puppy. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is a very happpy, healthy little guy.

Jasper is your typical pup - he is full of energy and ready for anything. He loves to play and gets on very well with other dogs. He will need a home that is ready for an energetic guy and can provide him with structure and training.

Sadly, this is not Jasper's first time with us. He had been adopted out to a family that thought they were ready for his energy but had underestimated just how much work a pug pup can be. We cannot stress how important it is that whoever is interested in Jasper (or any other young pug) be aware that they will require a lot of attention and correction. Once they're trained they are trained for life, but they will require some time and attention to get that way. If you're in a position to do this, please consider Jasper. He has a lot of love to give to a family that is ready to devote some time to him.

Jill
Jill is a gorgeous fawn female. She comes to us from a local animal control facility. We believe she is about 7 years old. She is heartworm negative. She has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She does suffer from luxating patellas, where her knees shift out of place. Sadly this is a commonly seen Pug problem, but one that can be fixed surgically.

Josie
Josie is a 6 year old fawn female. She comes to us from a local animal shelter and it is believed that this poor little girl was a puppy mill survivor. She how now been spayed, microchipped and brought up to date on her vaccinations. Thankfully she is heartworm negative. She does have degenerative hip disease, which means her hips are weak. She would be ideally suited to a home with no stairs or with a family that doesn't mind carrying her up and down. She's a sweet girl who is learning to love attention and deserves to find out what it's like to be somebody's cherished pet.

Kessie
Kessie is a black female. She is a 3 year old owner surrender through no fault of her own. She is heartworm negative and in good health. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations. She is a very playful girl.

Kibby
Kibby is a fawn female. She is 4 years old. She is heartworm negative and in good health except for her skin. She has been covered in fleas and on a poor diet so her skin isn't in very good shape right now. But that will change now that her fleas are gone and she's eating proper food. She seems a little timid and scared with strangers right now but she is a sweet little girl.

Kingsley
Kingsley is a fawn male. He comes to us from an animal control facility. We believe he is about 8 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. We don't believe he was an inside dog in his prior life due to his heartworm status and the fact that he was not housetrained. He is learning quickly what it's like to live indoors, and seems to like it!

From Kinglsey's foster: He is a real sweetheart. He loves the other pugs and gets along well with other breeds when we walk. He does demand attention though when the other dogs are around. They usually all sleep in one bed in the office during the day and he sleeps next to me at night. He does this cute thing where he will sit down next to one of the dogs or a person and he just rests his head on them, like he is on the pic on Rosie (see additional photos)

Lexi
Lexi is an adorable fawn female. She is 10 years old. She is heartworm negative and has been spayed. Lexi came to us with a bad case of kidney stones. When our Vet performed her spay he also planned to remove the stones. However, her one kidney was so badly damaged due to the stones that he ended up removing it as well. She should do just fine with one kidney as we have seen this with other dogs who lived normal lives after this kind of surgery. She will need to be on special food to make sure she doesn't get anymore stones in her remaining kidney. Right now little Lexi is recovering from her surgery but with antibiotics and her new food she should make a full recovery and be ready for her new home really soon!

From Lexi's foster: I am happy to report that she is healing up nicely! Her stitches are out and Dr. Hendrix put her on a special diet to prevent future kidney stone problems. Unfortunately, she will have to adhere to this diet for the rest of her life. That's ok, because Lexi seems to love her new food! She is running, jumping and playing catch like there's no tomorrow! She's an extremely energetic little girl. She loves playing with her 'burger'. If she wants attention, she will let you know by either vocalizing it or rubbing against your leg like a cat!! She enjoys walks and playing fetch. She's also incredibly smart. The only negative is that she continues to have 'accidents', but Dr. Hendrix assured me that this could be from having chronic bladder infections due to the stones and that it should clear up in a couple of weeks. She's a sweet and loving little girl that glows when she is given affection.

Lilly 2
Lilly is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe she is about 10 years old. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative. She is suffering from itchy skin - possibly due to poor nutrition or allergies. She also has some coughing and sneezing so we will have her checked by our vet.

Louie 3
Louie is a fawn male. He is 4 years old and is an owner surrender. He is in good health is is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

From Louie's foster: He is doing great! He is such a happy-go-lucky dog - he gets along with all other animals and people and is very eager to make friends. He gets pretty wound up when meeting people for the first time, but as soon as someone sits down he immediately jumps in their lap to snuggle and give kisses. He loves to walk outside and to run around and play, but he also loves to cozy up on some pillows and take a nap. He tends to shadow me at home, which is adorable.

The belly band has definitely done its job. He has been band-free for several days now with no incidents. The housebreaking itself was never an issue - he understands what to do outside and will let you know if he needs to go out. He also knows how to sit on command, although sometimes he isn't so good at staying because he gets too excited. Anyway, he's a sharp little guy and he does listen when he's being corrected or praised (mostly)! Anyway, things are going well for Mr. Lou. He's a big hit with everyone that he's met. He is a genuinely loveable dog with a great temperment.

Luna
Luna is a black female. She comes to us from an animal control facility. She is 4 years old. She is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. She also has a luxating patella and a bad left hip. We believe she had been used for breeding previously. She has now been spayed and is current on her vaccinations.

From Luna's foster: Luna is one beautiful little Puggie girl!!! She is very small and has the sweetest face. She was really quite shy when she first arrived, but over the course of a few weeks has made so much progress it's amazing. She is right in the mist of everyone else now seeking to get her share of the attention. She is quite excited when she first gets on my lap but after a little petting and calming down she loves to just be held. She is very happy to give as many Puggie kisses as you want. She gets on extremely well with other dogs (including my daughter's Great Dane) and, typical of a Pug, loves everyone that comes to visit. She also has very good house manners. While some Pugs with Luna's history of breeding find the adjustment to being in a home quite challenging she seems to be quite satisfied with a nice soft bed, regular meals and a lap to cuddle on. She will give some lucky family years of entertainment and love.

Maisy
Maisy is a fawn female. She is 2-3 year old puppy mill survivor. She has now been spayed. She is current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped. She is in excellent health except for being quite skinny.

From Maisy's foster: She is small for her age, but thinks she is a big girl. She has learned to play with toys and loves tug-of-war with the other pugs in the house.

Maisy is learning to be a part of a family. We are working on housebreaking and she is progressing well.

Maisy is fearful in new situations and prefers to move at her own pace when exploring new spaces. She loves other dogs, but is not sure about most people. Maisy will be a great companion and pet with some patience, understanding and time. She has already figured out that the people bed is a good place and sleeps with her head in my hand.

Major
Major is a fawn male. He is only about 2 years old. He is currently being treated for ringworm but is in otherwise excellent health. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

Marvin
Marvin is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local animal control facility so we don't know his history. We believe he is 8 or 9 years old. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

From Marvin's foster: Marvin is one cool, old dude!!!! He is so funny! He has quite a range of noises he makes, when I'm playing with him he makes is grr/whine noise deep in his throat and when he's in his crate and wants out he makes a noise that sounds like Cringer just before he turns into Battlecat (for those of you too young to remember, that's He Man's sidekick). Marvin constantly make me smile or laugh.

Marvin is almost completely blind, I believe he is able to see light from dark because he doesn't run into anything but that's about all he can see. We hope that we will be able to save his eyes and what small amount of sight he has with daily medication. He's getting very good at navigating around the house and can now find the sliding glass door from outside!!! As you can see from his pictures he's quite a couch potato and he loves to claim the pillow as his for the night!!! He also has a great face to scrunch up and kiss!

Marvin is an awesome old gentleman! He's in good health and would really make someone a great companion. Don't let his limited vision rule him out for you, contrary to what is believed a blind dog isn't really that much different than a sighted dog. I have four dogs in my home that are either blind or nearly blind and they are all just as happy and playful as the sighted dogs. I adopted one of those dogs almost three years ago and I have constantly been amazed at how awesome Quincy is and have never regreted my decison. Please consider giving Marvin that forever home that every Pug deserves!

Mattox
Mattox is a fawn female. Though she is only 2 years old she's been through a lot already. She came to us from a shelter who received several dogs through a puppy mill seizure. She has now been spayed. Surprisingly, she is heartworm negative. She came to us with hookworms but those have now cleared and she is in good health. She is now current on her vaccinations and microchipped.

From her foster: Little Miss Mattox is one of the four puppy mill Pugs. She is very pretty and while she is the biggest of the three girls she still only weighs 13 pounds. She is making slow but steady progress in overcoming her fear of people. She really wants to be loved but is not sure how to go about asking. She will sit on my lap for a very long time but she won't come up to me and ask to be held, I have to go pick her up and bring her to the couch. When I do approach her she will flatten out like a pancake and roll over on her back. At these times it just breaks my heart that someone has treated her so badly in her short life. She is improving on a daily basis, she comes a little closer to the couch each day. She gets along great with the other Pugs and has even discovered what toys are for.

Mattox needs to have a new home that is very strong in the patience department. She will take a lot of love and gentle coaxing to get over her shyness and fear. But the reward you will receive when she finally shows that she trusts you completely will be like nothing you have ever experienced before.

Miranda
Miranda is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. She is heartworm negative but does have hookworms right now which are being treated. She will be spayed prior to placement.

Miranda is a sweet, playful 8 month old puppy. She is quite the tomboy who loves to wrestle and play with her pug foster brothers. Miranda loves to snuggle too as pug puppies do! She especially loves to nap right up next to you. She is doing very well with her crate training and is pretty close to being housebroken. She will make a wonderful pet for a family who has the time & energy for some pug puppy love!

Noel
Noel is a fawn male. He is an owner surrender and is a young guy at only about 1 year old. He is in good health and is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

From Noel's foster: Noel is a very active 1 year old male pug. He loves to play and run around in the yard with his new friend. He is learning to "Sit" and is working on being house trained. He is very loveable and gives big wet kisses! He is good with children, handling, being hugged and kissed on by a toddler very well. He makes snuffle noises when he sniffs which makes me laugh. He loves to snuggle up to you when you sit to watch TV or read and enjoys sleeping in bed with our son. He is doing really well in the few weeks he's been our foster and would really enjoy being a permanent part of a family.

Norton

Patsy
Patsy is somewhere between 14 and 17 yrs old. She is a talker and will scream until she gets what she wants, usually your total attention. She sleeps in the bed and prefers to sleep at the foot of the bed so that she can monitor what is going on. She has had a few mast cell cancers develop, but has had no issues in the last several months. She loves her Daddy and will follow him everywhere he goes. Patsy is a great companion and is looking for a comfortable place to live out her life.

Pearl
Pearl is a sweet fawn female. She is 13 years old and an absolute doll. She is an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She is heartworm negative. She is current on her vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. She is in excellent health but is deaf. She has a mass on her right rear leg that will be removed soon which does not affect her gait at all. While no Pug should be an outside dog, Pearl is especially intolerent of the heat and cannot be outside this time of year for very long.

Pearl is described by her foster as a 'little shadow.' She loves to be near her human and will follow you around. She loves to snuggle her person in bed at night. She is used to being an only dog and would do well by herself or with a submissive companion.

Penelope 3
Penelope is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. We believe she is about 10 years old. She is heartworm negative. She is suffering from general neglect - bad eyes, skin and teeth. She also has tapeworms which we are treating as well as a mass on her belly which we are having evaluated.

From Penny's foster: Penelope (or Penny as I call her) has settled in quite well. When she first arrived she had quite a large mass on her stomach and it was discovered that her spleen and intestines were hanging on the outside of her body. Well no wonder the old girl was having some trouble walking! She had surgery to repair the issue and has made an amazing recovery.

Penny is a very sweet lady. She is quite friendly and likes be on my lap to take her naps. If I have a lap full of other fosters at the time she is just as willing to go to her little bed by the couch and take her nap there. She is a very easy going old girl. As with any senior, she isn't a ball of energy. She does still have quite a funny walk with her back legs being a little crooked from old age and I think from having the tumor so long. But she gets around just fine and seems to be enjoying her life now.

To my surprise she is completely house trained, she has never had an accident in the house. Penny would rather not have to deal with other dogs. She will growl at them if they get too close to her face. She isn't mean by any stretch of the imagination she just doesn't like to have them get too close to her; however, she only growls at them if they are the aggressor. Who knows what has happened to her in her life to make her like this.. I correct her anytime I hear her do it and she is beginning to be more tolerant of the others invading her personal space.

Penny sure is a sweet, loving, and undemanding little lady. Even though she is 10 years old that really isn't that old for a pug, she's got a lot of good, happy years left in her future. She really deserves someone to give her a safe, warm home and let her know that she is going to be loved for the rest of her life.

Pepper
Pepper is a beautiful dark fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is 4 years old. She is heartworm negative. She has greatly diminished vision but in otherwise good health. This is a relief as she appears to have come from a breeding facility. She has now been spayed. She is current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped.

From Pepper's foster: When Pepper first came to me, she appeared to be a dog that was born at a puppy mill and then kept for breeding. She had typical pacing crate behavior and didn't understand proper potty behavior. However, after just 2 weeks she was potty trained when kept on a schedule. We are fairly routine-oriented in the dog household. She is a sweet little dog who is learning to accept human touch. Inside the home she is a happy little dog who enjoys chewing rawhide strips, and playing tug-o-war with stuffed animals. She likes to sleep in a tight group with the other dogs, and when allowed to sleep on the bed she cuddles up very close to her human. She is almost totally blind only being able to see some movement on the left side. That has not stopped her from learning the lay-out of the house or backyard. She goes rushing full speed through the dog door without hitting the sides. Pepper will need ointment placed in her eyes twice daily for the rest of her life.

She does have more anxiety when she goes out on walks but we take those twice a day and she likes to do her potty on those walks, in addition to potty in the backyard. I just talk to her during the walk so she knows I am there.

This would be an outstanding little companion dog for an older person or couple. When she is outside and the kids of the neighborhood are all playing and shouting Pep gets a little frazzled. It would take a little more work to get her at ease in a situation with kids. She gets along well with the other 3 dogs in our home. Her blindness doesn't seem to hamper things. Please consider meeting this funny little dog. She loves being loved on.

Phil
Phil is a sweet fawn male. He came to us from a local shelter, so not much is known about him. We estimate he is between 8 to 10 years old. He has been brought current on his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. He does have 'dry eye' that is so common in pugs. Due to this he has suffered some vision loss. He is on medicated drops and will need those daily for the rest of his life. Otherwise he is in very good health with no further issues.

UPDATE from Phil's foster Mom: Dr. Phil - True to his namesake DR Phil is a handsome gent who aspires to have his own talk show. He is a loyal fellow who would gladly guard hearth and home with his mighty little bark and his keen wit. In between his rehearsing he likes nothing more than a soft toy, a kind word and a soft lap to snuggle. He actually may just have the perfect puggie tail with just the right little twist. He has it all- personality, charm, loyalty and an analytical side should you need a kind soul to talk to - making him a lot of personality in a compact package. He is not fond of cats ( he knows what they are thinking) but might consider them on a bun with horse radish- just kidding - he barks and they saunter away.

Punky
Punky is a fawn female. She is 1 1/2 years old. She is an owner surrender.

From Punky's foster: Punky was named for the character (many years back) named Punky Brewster.

They share the same bright happy outlook on life. Punky is a 2-3 year old female that has gone through heartworm treatment. She is healthy and ready to go. Punky has been through a lot in her short life and struggles with some severe separation anxiety. We are working to help her deal with her fear in a positive manner. She likes to suck on towels and cloth when she gets nervous, so we have a special one just for her. Punky loves to play and wakes up every day smiling and happy to see you. She is learning her housebreaking skills and is progressing well.

Punky is looking for an active house that will have the patience to help her overcome her demons. She loves people and will do anything to be near her family. She will do best in a multi-dog family with limited time away from her people. She loves children and would have a ball playing and watching over children in the house.

Punky 2
Punky (now renamed Pinky) is a beautiful fawn female. She is 4 years old. She is an owner surrender. She is heartworm negative, has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations and is microchipped. Punky is currently being evaluated by our vet for some possible neurological issues and is currently on medical hold until we know what issues she may have.

Ralphie
Ralphie is a 10 year old fawn male. He is heartworm negative and has been neutered. He is current on all of his vaccinations and microchipped. He is deaf but can see pretty well. He does have some stiff joints probably related to arthritis. All in all he is in good health for a senior.

Ralphie is a sweet, gentle boy. He is housetrained. He does very well around other dogs and cats. He's probably not used to being around kids as he "ignores" children. Not really playful but that's to be expected in a senior guy. This little guy loves to cuddle or just be near his humans. He can also be vocal, trying to "talk" to his human. He loves sleeping in a human bed at night but needs help getting up and down. Basically happy and very easygoing, Ralphie just needs someone to love and a lap to lay on.

Rico
Rico is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local shelter so we don't know his history. We believe he is no more than 3 years old. He has severe ulcers to both of his eyes. We will post a full update once he has been checked out by our vet.

Roadie
Roadie is a fawn male. He has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations. He is heartworm positive.

From Roadie's foster: Roadie is a sweet lovable guy. He was found wandering the streets and brought to us. He is severe heartworm positive and is working through the treatment. Roadie is a cuddler and much prefers to be with his person. He has severe dry eye and has lost a fair amount of his vision. This does not slow him down much and he loves to play with the other pugs in the house.

Roadie prefers a more relaxed home life (where cuddles are the top priority of the day) and is very interested in your couch (or bed) and the movie list you can offer. He loves to sleep right up next to you, so that he knows how much he is loved and can love you back. We love this guy and know that you will too.

Rocky 2
Rocky is a sweet fawn male. He is 7 years old. He is heartworm positive. He also has arthritis in his back legs and hips along with some poor muscle tone. He gets around fine but won't be winning any races anytime soon. He has some limits to his vision but he definitely has sight. He's a big boy - about 30 pounds - but he's not really overweight.

Rocky was definitely somebody's pet once. He is very well behaved. He is house trained. He's a mellow old guy who loves attention. He will even seek you out. He enjoys people and is very good around children. He also does very well with other animals.

Sir Bugsbee
Sir Bugsbee is a fawn male. He is 8 years old and was an owner surrender. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.

From his foster: Sir Bugsbee is a big boy who loves life and adapts very quickly to his foster family and his surroundings. He does have some medical problems. He has limited eye sight, but gets around very well once he knows his surroundings. His breath is bad because of dental problems, but since he has been with his foster family and on a true dog food diet, his breath and teeth have started to improve. He is also overweight, but is slowly losing some excess pounds. He is like a big teddy bear.

However, these are minor problems when you consider how sweet, loyal and loving a dog he is. One can not but love his spirit. He only wants to be part of his foster family and have fun. He loves to be chased and loves to be part of the doggie gang with his foster brothers and sisters. He has the softest fur and loves to be petted. He does not get onto furniture, although his new family could easily train him to sit on their lap. Please consider adopting Sir B. and making him a loving member of your family.

Tallulah Belle
Miss Tallulah Belle is a sweet black female. She came to us from a local animal control facility. This sweet little old lady has obviously not been taken care of for a long time. We believe she is about 10 years old. Right now she has a bad case of sarcoptic mange which has left her skin in terrible shape with severe bald spots. She is also blind. Thankfully she has tested heartworm negative. She has been brought current on her vaccinations and been microchipped.

From Tallulah's foster: What can I say about Tallulha Belle? I could say that she is awesome, that she is beautiful, that she is sweet, that she is funny, that she has the cutest little turned up nose I've ever seen... and they would all be true. My heart was lost the day Cindy sent out the email with her picture asking for someone to pick her up from the shelter.

Tallulha Belle has not had an easy life. She is blind, deaf and has a lot of trouble walking. Her joys in life are eating, sleeping and being held. I can sit for hours holding her during a movie and just keep looking at how pretty she is! The only stimulation she receives is being touched...and she loves to be touched. She likes for her head and back to be pet, but the thing she likes the most is to have her cheek kissed while I'm holding her. She will just keep pressing her head closer to me. I know she can't hear me but I also talk to her and tell her how sweet and pretty she is and that I love her. I think she may feel the vibrations of my voice because she does seem to really relax when I talk to her.

Tallulha Belle is really in pretty good health. She has eye meds for the dry eye and she takes medicine for her arthritis and that's it. Her skin is taking awhile to heal, she has a flare up every now and then that will make her red and itchy again, but there are signs of little black stubble on her bare spots so I think she will eventually have a full coat again.

Right now, she does have a tendency to get cold so she has sweaters and coats to keep her toasty. She really looks cute in her coat with pink fuzz on the collar.

Tallulha Belle was destined for Pug Hearts, in case you can't tell from the pictures she has a white heart on her face, she is truly a Pug Hearts Pug! She wouldn't be the choice that most people would make when looking to adopt a pet, she is older and has other issues as well. But giving Tallulha Belle a forever home would be the ultimate gift of true giving and love. She doesn't play with anyone, go on walks or play with toys, but she does return the love that she receives. Love and satisfaction emanate from her little body and I know that she is happy, maybe for the first time in her life. She doesn't take a lot of time but she does take a lot of love, do you have the love to give her?

Tank 2
Tank is a fawn male. He is 4 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

Tasha
Tasha is a fawn female. She is 6 years old. She is in good health except for her skin which is an apparent allergy.

From Tasha's foster: Hi there, I am Tasha and I came to PugHearts from a shelter but I am, for the most part, quite a healthy puggy girl. I am heartworm negative and had no icky worms to contend with. I have no joint issues. However, I am very allergic to fleas. My skin is really itchy and healing right now because I am so allergic but it is slowly clearing up. My foster mommy has me on hypoallergenic food and giving me Benadryl which will help with my itchies, and I MUST be kept flea free. Now onto the really good stuff...I am such a lovey pug! I love people and my foster dog and cats; I can't make the cats like me but I don't pay them any mind. I do try to make friends with them and I think I can succeed. I am not much for playing with toys so far (I think I am distracted by my itchies) but am a complete Velcro pug. I love being with my foster mommy all the time, whether cuddling on the couch, sitting in her lap or under her feet while she works on the computer.) I am a good girl who does my potty business outside (though I admit I slipped my first night only because I was not sure where the bathroom was...I should have asked.) I do sleep in my crate though I am hoping my foster mommy will let me sleep out (I have been a very good girl and I think I can be trusted pretty soon.) I am a talker and do talk to mommy when she is in the shower, or in the kitchen fixing my meal, or getting dressed for work. I rub my face on her hands when I want attention which is a lot. I want to make my people happy, and am very motivated by cookies. I get along great with other animals but would be just as happy as your one and only pug. If you are interested in a fur-ever best friend, I am available.

Welch
Welch is a fawn male. He is a pug mix - possibly a puggle. We believe he is about 2 years old. He is in good health; he is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

He is a very happy, playful little guy and is looking for a home where someone can spend time playing with him.

Whitney
Whitney is a 7 year old fawn female rescued from a puppy mill. She is in Hospice care with her foster Mom.

From Whitney's foster Mom: I thought that everyone would like to have an update on her recovery from being a sick, puppy mill dog to being a loved little girl. Whitney has adapted exceptionally well to being a Pampered Pug! She is not the least bit afraid of anything or anyone now. She loves to play - tug of war is her very favorite game. She will grab on to the end of a rope and with Cole on the other end she'll go sliding over the wood floors, growling all the way :) Her tail is constantly wagging and she loves to be held. She hasn't been able to learn to jump on the couch so I have to give her a hand there but she sure knows what to do when she gets up. Whitney loves to be held and have her back rubbed while she sits on my lap, she doesn't last very long before she's asleep sitting up. All in all she's a pretty special girl. I do believe she may have me wrapped around her little paw, but I'm okay with that.

Whitney's health is doing exceptionally well. She takes a pill every day and her cancer has not reared its ugly head one time! She doesn't seem to be sick, although sometimes I think she doesn't feel quite right (that's when she wants to be held all the time). She also gets very short of breath if she is too active. Her remaining eye has started to lose some sight. She can still see but I don't think she can see much more than light to dark. But true to her personality it doesn't seem to bother her much. It's been my experience with blind dogs that they aren't that concerned about not seeing because their other senses kick into overdrive. She just follows the pack or my voice and is familiar enough with her surroundings that she's quite comfortable.

We know that Whitney won't be with us as long as a healthy Pug would be. But thanks to your generous donations for her care she will be with us much longer than anyone ever expected. Thanks to each and every one of you who have taken the time to care about (as I call her) Whitney My Love.

Special Notes

Whitney is in Hospice care due to her cancer.

Winston 4
Winston is a fawn male. He is 9 years old and is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.

Xander
Xander is a black male. He comes to us from a local shelter. We believe he is 2-3 years old. He is heartworm negative and has been neutered. He has also been microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Xander's foster: Xander is 2-3 year old young male. He's very loving and very energetic. He loves to play with humans and his dog friends. He seems to get along with everybody! He is pretty much housebroken, and is crate trained. He has some pretty bad knees, just poor genetics, but it doesn't slow him down a bit. He just looks a little bow legged :-) As you can see, he is a handsome one!!

Yoda 2
Yoda is an 8 year old fawn male. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is now heartworm negative, having gone through heartworm treatment. He is in pretty good health but does have some residual heart damage which means he needs daily medication to keep his heart strong. He also suffers from 'dry eye' which is so common in pugs. He will need daily drops to his eyes to keep him comfortable.
